Benefits of Green Energy Sources

The world has relied on fossil fuels for a long time. Fossil fuels are used to heat our homes, gas our cars, and provide electricity. We are starting to see the consequences of habitual fossil fuel use. Resources are becoming depleted and slowly our planet is dying.

Many say that green energy sources are too hard generate. Green energy technology is in its infancy. Currently, it may be harder to generate than burning fossil fuels. However, there are many different options for green energy. All we have to do is identify green energy sources that are viable for each US geographic region.

The various green energy sources such as solar, wind, wave, hydropower and geothermal do not produce anything harmful which may have a negative effect on the environment. This is the exact opposite of what you get when you continue to operate a coal or nuclear power plant.

Coal you have to remember releases carbon dioxide into the air. On its own, it may not cause that much damage but there are currently 50,000 coal plants around the world and that number is expected to grow.

Many say nuclear power is a reliable solution. No one disputes that nuclear power does produce a large amount of energy. The dispute is whether or not we are effectively and safely disposing of the spent nuclear rods. We also have to consider nuclear accidents such as Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. These incidents were many years ago. We have gotten better at containment; however, it only takes one accident.

Green energy also requires maintenance. Windmills have mechanical parts that must be maintained. Corn to make ethanol must be grown. Biomass fuels require the trash to be separated and sorted. All of these choices are more attractive than fossil fuels. Green energy utilizes facilities that are cheaper to operate.

The next advantage of using green energy sources is that we will never run out of them. For centuries, the Sun’s rays have reached so has the wind which is blown from the sea. By using it, we decrease our dependence on oil which is a nonrenewable resource.

If you think about it, many of us have taken these green energy sources for granted. If we do the right thing now, future generations will not have to face the mess that we could have handled on our own years before.

Talking will get us no where. News papers talk about what needs to change. People talk about how concerned they are. People even tie themselves to trees. While these actions are noble, they will not build windmills or erect solar panels. It is time we put our money where our mouth is.

Green energy is a viable alternative to fossil fuels. While there are maintenance costs, green energy is renewable. We are past due for action, rather than talk. You have the power in your hands. It is possible to have home made energy. You just have to decide whether you want to commit or continue to spew toxins into the environment.

Are you ready to commit to saving our planet? Find out how you can get homemade energy plans today. Planet change is in your hands. The planet will thank you.

Energy-Efficient Houses by Emmy Homes

Emmy Homes is proud to deliver energy-efficient homes to Long Island. Our homes leverage Energy Star rules, qualifying for Energy Star certification to help ensure the energy efficiency of your home. This not only cuts your utility costs but also raises the resale value of the home.

In coordination with Home Energy New York, Emmy now builds houses with green energy technology built-in. With choices including solar panels, solar heating tubes and wind turbines, Emmy Homes in Commack NY can build and deliver an energy efficient house to you.

The wind power systems that will be used in Commack New York are the Energy Ball v100 and Energy Ball v200. These systems have been designed to generate 500W and 2500W of electricity respectively. These wind turbines, which more resemble a weather vane and not a traditional windmill, are very quiet and compact. The v100, for example, is only 3 feet tall. When mounted on a pole on top of your house, is able to harness the wind, night and day, generating electricity for you. Any excess electricity is fed back into the grid and the power company pays you for that electricity.

The solar heating tubes are a different approach to heating the water used throughout your house. A fully enclosed system, it makes use of vacuum tubes containing thin metal blades. As sunlight warms these blades, they heat tubes of water running through a seam in the blades. This water circulates back to your heating system through coils and radiates heat into the usable water in your tank. The water in the solar heating tubes is not the water that you drink; rather, this water travels through coils that bring the heat energy to the water that you drink.

Solar heating tubes, such as those in the green energy systems in Commack, work in both the summer and winter – based on the sun. These break resistant glass tubes house the blades in a sealed environment. The outside cold has no effect on the blade. Even in the coldest temperaturs, solar heating tubes collect sunlight and heat the water passing through the main tube, as high as 190F. Finally, solar electric panels installed on the roof of your new house can produce year-round electricity. While solar energy systems are only effective during daylight hours, the amount of electricity they produce can be significant. Excess electricity is automatically routed back to the power company, that will buy it back from you at the same rate that they charge you for power. If you are smart and shut off lights and appliances in your house that are not in use, your power demand will drop, allowing even more electricity can flow back to the power company. Go on vacation and have your home act as a small power station, generating electricity and selling it back to the power grid day in and day out!

Remember, as you look at homes with clean energy solutions in Commack, keep in mind the massive value of having clean energy in your home. A house with solar electric, wind power and other solar energy on Long Island sets you apart from the rest. It is good for the environment, and lowers your costs and increases the resale value of your house.
